serial # on title is 12KA1139xx. as i understand it, the "12" indicates the vehicle rolled off the buffalo ny assembly line, the "11" indicates it was built in november amnd the 39xx indicates it was the 29xx vehicle they built in buffalo. my question is what does the KA represent? thanks guys, mike mccagh

Maybe the title/serial number was taken from the engine. KA is a 1940 lettering. It is for the Special Deluxe. The 1939 equilivent would have bn for the 1939 Deluxe Master. Some more knowledgeable members will chime in on this and straighten it out. Gene likes 39s. Charlie

The number indicates it's a 1940 serial number. Look at the links I posted.

KA is a 1940 Special Deluxe. A car built in Nov. of 1939 would have been a 1940 model. 1940 model production began in Sept. 1939.

If it is for a Master 85 sedan delivery it would be a JC.

Rather than buy a fraudulent title just contact your state licensing agency and get a correct title for your vehicle. All states have a method to do that. Some states are more difficult than others but all have a way.

By what I have read here (and being from down under where we use a Chassis number) the numbers on the title match what is on the car and it is a early 40 year model manufactured in 39. With that in mind he has the correct title and doesnt need to change anything. Our registration and "titles" have always been based on the chassis (frame) number though the engine number is also listed and included for identification. Tony
