I'm in final paint and need to install the glove compartment door. is there a diagram of how the springs go? I bought the car disassembled so can't rely on memory and that was in 2003 so I couldn't rely on memory anyway (CRS) stressed

Here are a couple of photos that may help.

The springs pushes against the pins on the arms when the door is closed to push it open when unlocked.

I'll try to remember to check how mine works tomorrow. I've never paid attention to the spring before.

I'm afraid I'm no help. My spring is nothing like the one above but I can't see it to determine how it works. I guess this is a good learning moment, to always take pictures when taking things apart so that you can see how they go back together. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

That's right, you did say you bought it disassembled. Wish I could be more help. Good luck with it.

Doesn't really show the springs well. Just position it where there's spring tension with the door in the closed position that goes away in the open position.

Try doing what Tiny suggested as I'm not sure pictures will save the day. Springs are annoying...
If you need pictures, PM and I'll try to get some decent ones to email you.

After dealing with the 'free' and cheap photo posting sites for awhile, I decided it was worth paying $60 for Link to Smugmug. No ads popping up either. Lightning fast uploads, too.

Bill, I have been following and posting on here as registered since 2002. I have not joined but would love to if you guys will accept a guy building a 1938 Chevrolet Corvette. I have saved 3 chevrolet cars from destruction in building my car so that might give me some grace? What do I do next to join if that's ok?

You don't even have to own a car to join the VCCA. Just click the link at the top of the page "VCCA Home" then click on "Join".

I'm interested in hearing more about a 1938 Corvette. I just recently discovered Corvettes (about 9 1/2 years ago) and I'm now on my fourth one.
