Are those two 33's on the streets of Kirkland Lake in 1934?

That is a great photo!!

It is interesting to note that the "Bowling & Billards" building in the center background is just about identical to the "Sparta" building in Medford, Oregon on the corner of Main Street and Riverside.

Those are not 1933 Chevy luggage racks on the backs. Perhaps Buicks?

They are both 1934's. They are Chevrolets because of the shape of the rear window. Would be unusual to see two 1934 Chevrolets and both have luggage racks and side mounts The one to the left must be a coupe.

actually those luggage racks on the back are 1933, but only for Canadian models and more specifically for the 1933 Chevrolet standard CC series .

Considering the very low production ( 773 )of the COACH model, standard series and 2 of them in same picture I would say that's extremely rare .

look at this one Mike. Two 34 Masters in my home town, one year before my uncle Jo bought the one in my garage. The only thing that makes me think it isn't one of those two is that one of my older cousins says it was gray. What are the odds of having 3 Master 5WC's in a town of 2500 at that time?

Pat the 34 master 5 w on the left was not a good driver as both fenders are banged, front bumper is off a later car and the bumper guard is a 33 chev and the grill guard is more of a ford aftermarket item. No idea what the end WINGS are on the bumper. That owner needed a cow catcher crash bar for the front end.

They both have the optional 34 radiator ornament..

In a town of 2500, your main low price choices were Chevrolet , ford or Plymouth. The master being a step up deluxe over the lower priced standard series. I would think there was a lot more standards sold there than masters.

The prior picture with the 33 standards, interesting also that both had left and right rear running stop lights.

The large front bumper is from a 1940 Oldsmobile and the wing tips were in one stamping with the bumper.

Regarding that 1940 Olds bumper,

Wouldn't surprise me if that pic was taken during the war when getting new replacement parts was impossible.

If you look at the front of that 34 master on the left and the 2 creased fenders, I think the front bumper took a big whack and was not repairable .
That's why its all bundled up with later bumper from olds, grill guard from something and a 33 chev bumper guard. Owner was preparing for contact with something or somebody.

That is my dad squatting in the photo. We believe the car barely visible on the left to be "our" '34 based on the curve of the fender lip. Now if the "boys" would have stood somewhere else we might have been able to see the shape of the bumper end, or if the photographer would have stood further back, we could have seen more of the car. Still, that bolt head looks a lot like the one in the other photo. Normally it should have a decorative bolt.

Also could it be that the car on the right in the 1942 photo have a rear bumper mounted in front?

THE FRONT BUMPER AND THE REAR BUMPER , HAVE THEIR BOLT HOLES IN THE FACE OF THE BUMPER , IN MUCH DIFFERENCE LOCATIONS.

A FRONT DOESN'T GO ON THE BACK AND THE BACK DOESN'T GO ON THE FRONT , NOT ON ANY OF MY 35 STANDARDS.

They are the same bumpers as a 34 master except they are narrower, side to side.

Ah.OK. I thought it looked like it had the spare tire bulge, but I guess it doesn't.

MY 35 STD COUPE FRONT BUMPER HAS A SMALL BULGE. I BELIEVE THE 34 ALSO DOES FOR STD .

THE BACK BUMPERS HAVE A MUCH LARGER BULGE FOR THE SPARE TIRE CLEARANCE OF COARSE.

THE STYLE OF A 33 BUMPER HAS A SINGLE FACE BOLT RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE AND GENERALLY IS FLAT .

34 MASTER BUMPERS ARE WIDER END TO END THAN STANDARDS AND BY A COUPLE OF INCHES.
