Hello,

I have a 32 coupe. The car hasn't been running since the 70's.
The car is all original, including the 212s carb. I hear these carbs are problematic, mine has a warped bowl cover and a small chip off the air horn.

I'm thinking rather than rebuild the 212s Id prefer to purchase a later model W-1 Carter.

Any recommendations on a model and where to purchase?
Thanks

The 569s #421 is the later replacement for W-1 carbs prior to 1936. Just be careful to get one that is properly rebuilt to original specs by a competent rebuilder. There was one on Ebay recently advertised as rebuilt with a dichromate finish and it looked like maybe a good core for rebuild.

I think I found a 569s. It does not have a tag though. Have I read correctly that any W-1 with 421 stamped on both the float bowl and the mounting flange is a 569s?

The 569s has the 421 on the casting and a straight throttle arm. The straight throttle arm is the key. Essentially the rest of the carburetor is the same as the '41.
