It’s funny I found this car 1932 Chevrolet (Holden) Phaeton awhile back on Bing Search and the with a listing price of$47,500. As you all know economics of supply and demand and as of now 2017 the market is flooded with many old cars due to old age population and people dying off, on the demand side there is no interest with these 80 plus year old cars with the new younger generation. That is the sad part with these old cars future! I have been on Ebay all cars in the 30’s watch list original and hot rodded for almost 2 years and again for the most part they do not sell with the highest bid in and around 18k with the min bid to be sold for is in and around 48k to 68k. On the good note there will be plenty of old cars and old parts flooding the market at a cheap price for restorers and hot rodders alike! Will the market get better down the road for all of us old car buffs? I would have to say no!

Broker would like to get an offer. I think seller is motivated.

Me, I would rather have a US 32 Phaeton

All I see is the major problem of shipping the car from Australia to northern USA.

But before buying the car you need to have somebody who is qualified to inspect the car and give you a report on it. Unless you wish to fly to Australia yourself , see it with your own eyes so your 100% sure of exactly what your getting.

Well you might not have thought of this but the currency exchange is seriously in your favor. If the car is lets say $30,000 Australian dollars........that car would cost you about $21,000 to $23,000 USA DOLLARS at current exchange rates.
Check the money exchange rates.

Considering its a HOLDEN body, there will be a lot of things that are different on the main body than a USA built car. Door hinges, door handles, windshield frame and posts, the body lines on the body. And who knows what else. ??????

Hi
Looks to me like the car is registered in Washington so is in or was in that state, it has a lot of things that are not correct, I recon it would be in the low to mid price range for that model if selling here, but who knows we see some rediculous prices at auctions.

Just personal stuff I suppose but the hood/top is the wrong shape and not finished correctly at the rear should wrap around further and that trim ! Rear seat much too high and the colour! I recon it was restored by a car restorer who just restored it without caring about how it was originally, again just my opinion but we were asked what we thought.

The paint colour is incorrect, so much white. interior trim should be tan colour in leather or fabrex vinyl . dash should be painted black, aswell as the inside edges of the doors, the engine colours... single piece bumperettes and single front bumper instead of twin bumpers with a centre dip in the lower front bar.

on the 35 tub I like the clothes pegs to hold the wire to the metal line in the engine compartment.

That's whats happening today, formerly $45--50G cars now $35G and then $30,000 in order to sell it.

Hard to tell if the clothes pins are "wire ties" or there to, supposedly, cool the incoming gas to the carb.
There are numerous explanations why it works but I have my doubts about all of them....... hello2

So is there a source of photos for Holden cars? I see we are picking it apart, Chev chassis but Australian built body. How do we know what’s right and wrong?

The 1932 tourer Holden body is generally a carry over from the 1931 body tourer, but with a few minor updates. The hood irons exit out through the tub pressed in moulding. the front cowl has a pressed up rib to help seal the new windscreen frame, (compared to the lower panel on a 1931 tourer and Roadster.). The dash panel is different to 1931 due to the free wheeling button and centre heat button. The most of this car is body work / panels correct. The 1932 chassis and running gear was all 1932. The front fenders and rear fenders, side splash panels and Bumper bars were localy produced here in Australia. Mostly cosmetic errors with this car.

I have seen pictures of another so called 1932 tourer in the USA with 1931 windscreen fitted

They could not justify tooling up a complete new body for 1932 as the 1931 moldels sold so poorly due to the reccession. 1933 tooling was then developed as sales improved.

Thanks for the reply. I just have never seen much about the Holden side of
Chevrolet from those days. I do own a 2017 SS.
