Last night I checked the voltage that my generator is producing on my '29 AC Sedan. Unfortunately it is quite low at around 5.29 volts.

While still mounted, I removed the band on my Generator and checked the brushes and comutator, I cleaned the comutator with a toothbrush and contact cleaner. The brushes seem to be seating well.

I am still getting the low voltage to charge the battery. Next effort may be to remove the generator and do a bench clean. After that I may be rebuilding the generator

Sounds like your generator definitely needs a rebuild.
