I am trying to find out which starter is correct for a 1925. The parts manual lists the starter as a Remy 710D but my research on this forum suggests that it is a Remy 710C.

Captain D the 1928 master parts book page 134 lists 710D P/N 820233 as the starter for a 1925 series K, M, R, V, & X. The 1925 parts list book page 31 lists it as Remy 710-C P/N 813397. The '26 parts list page 13 also lists 710-C. It looks like it was superseded by the 710-D by 1928. Hope that helps.

I'm confused. To summarize:

1925 Parts Manual has 710C
1926 Parts Manual has 710C
1928 Parts Manual has 710D

Is there an actual difference between a 710C and a 710D or was it just a part number change?

I have never known of any supplier changing part numbers without a reason be it physical alteration of the part or supplier change. Could be as simple as a color change.

I found the answer. The Remy 710-C was new for 1925 models. In mid 1927, Remy merged with Delco and the starter I.D. tag changed to Delco-Remy 710-D. The electrical characteristics between the 710-C and 710-D are the same, only the I.D. tag changed.
