I have had a set of NOS rear springs for my 38 Master for some time. I also have had new bushings, shackles and inlox bushings for the rear. I had eventually intended to change out the old bushings and shackles but I think maybe I will use the NOS springs too. The NOS springs have the bushings already installed but the rubber in the inlox bushings is very old.

The inlox bushings on the NOS springs are presently installed with the bushing flush on one side of the spring and protruding out about 1/4" on the other. I wonder why this is so.

The springs Chevrolet sold did not come with the shackle bushings or inlox bushings.
The innlox bushing must be installed so an equal amount sticks out on each side. If this is not done the shell will not compress correctly when the bolt is tightened and the spring eye will rub on one side of the hanger.
Why this is so.....the "installer" did not know what he was doing stressed
