Can anyone tell me how to R & R a key door for the trunk handle?
Its the cover that hides the lock. I have a donor but I dont want to break it.
Thank you!

You have to back out the drive screw. I used needle nose vice grips. Good luck.

I have taken the DOOR key lids off several locks, not trunk key lids. While easy to do as described above I have had a very poor batting average reassembling them and their remaining tight. The screw seems to easily loosen. I guess the problem may be solved with a glue like JD Weld? I would not recommend disassembling them unless the lid is damaged. The lid is stainless and can be easily shined after sanding the scratches out.

Good luck, Mike

The one he is referring to is part of the trunk handle. In order to re-chrome the handle it must be removed. The reason he ask the question is, his handle is bent and has another handle to replace it.

I would not use J B weld! Would make it almost impossible to remove again in the future should the need arise. A dab of blue lock tight should be ok. Or, as I did, just SLIGHTLY squeeze the opening the screw fits in, out of round so as to make for a tight fit.
