Does anyone have a good, close up pic of the 235 "advanced and retarded stampings" on the octane selector ?

Mine were pained over, cannot distinguish the actual stampings / impressions.

Go to the "MEMBERS ONLY" section below, "Member Photos" area, Second page/panel, first photo. I think the octane selector markings are the same regardless of engine displacement.

Bob, if there is too much paint on it, perhaps you can remove the part and soak it in lacquer thinner to remove the old paint and then apply a light coat of new paint.

Or use a small judicious amount of paint stripper brushed on. That should lift the paint just in the needed area.

I have a 53 PG engine in the garage. Will see if I can get a picture of it tomorrow.
