I am familiar with other years and models of Chevrolet but not so much with 1937. Are there any major differences between a car chassis and a 1/2 ton pickup chassis? Are they interchangeable? Thanks for your time.

Here in Aus there are 2 different chassis in the 1/2 ton, 1 is based in the car chassis and the body and box are 1 piece (sedan delivery or similar to El Camino) and the other is based on the truck (ladder "C" section) chassis with a detatched load area (box or flat tray). I have not compared the lighter chassis to the sedan but I think the sedan is shorter than 112" of the 1/2 ton. Tony

The 37 passenger cars used a box girder frame where as the light commercial (half ton) and Utility (Ton & half) still used "C" channel. I saw a double unit light commercial open express (AKA: Pickup)mounted on a passenger chassis at a car show so he could use the softer Dubonnet suspension. OK for a show car but not good on a double unit truck that would flex in loaded use. The stiffer frame might have worked for single unit trucks (Suburban, Canopy & Panel)as they have a roof and don't need to flex. Good luck, Lou
