Hello all, I'm new to this site and recently purchased a Restored 1930 Roaster Delivery or pickup (not sure if there is a difference) I'm curious to know if anyone has accurate production numbers and if there is any knowledge of how many are still in existence?? I realize GM did not make the box and used several different suppliers. Mine has a Standard Carriage Works box...its casted in the two gussets in the rear corners of the box. Is there accurate knowledge of how many manufacturers there were?

10,444 1930 Roadster Deliveries were reported for US production. Don't now if any were built in Canada. An article in the Spring 1975 issue (vol 1 no 1) of "Chevrolet Illustrated" by Larry Corbell covers a 1930 with a box with cast Standard Carriage Works corner braces. I strongly suspect it is the same truck. For those interested in Chevrolet Roadster Deliveries or Pickups or Open Cab Pickups, 2226 are reported to be built in 1931 and 464 in 1932. I have more than one of each year in my collection. Some are (or can be) built from parts accumulated over the past 40+ years.
I have never tried to put together a register of 1930 or 1931 "Roadster Pickups". I have tried to document the 1932 models. My latest number is 12 thought to still be in existence.
There were approximately 20 1928 Open cab express trucks built in Canada. Occasionally one comes up for sale. I don't have one of them.
How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!

I bought the vehicle from an estate.(makes it difficult to communicate with the previous owner) It came with two binders full of the resto pics and info supplied by a previous owner in California. He states in a letter dated in 1976 that in 1930 there were 9890 Roadster Delivery built and 554 Roadster Delivery and box. I'm not sure how one would determine which is which when boxes were installed later .....if indeed this is a fact??

Hey Chipper..mine is the truck from the magazine. That's how it ended up in Canada. The family I bought it from see the article and began negotiating. I have the article and several hand written letters back before the days of email. The gentlemen who owned it at the time that article was printed wrote he had owned it since 1964 and had never seen another one complete and on the road. He did provide names of others across the US that had one in various conditions. He claimed in a letter in 1979 that he knew of 12 in existence. That was almost 40 years ago. I can't think there are many left. I can find one 2 on the Internet for sale or have sold.

Chipper, I just did the math on the two production numbers I had found from the 70's letters an they equal the 10444 that you refer too. Interesting.

I recall that Fred Orders of Niagara on the Lake, Ontario had a nicely restored 1930 roadster pickup when I knew him 30+ years ago. If this isn't your vehicle, this may be another one in Southern Ontario. Tom
