I'm having my '32 engine rebuilt. The head is cracked in two places. The machine shop is drilling the cracks and driving in plugs or steel dowels. I'd rather replace the head. I'm told that a replacement head would be very hard to find. I'm also told the head is the same for 1929-1933. Is this correct? Where might I find a head for my engine? I'm not overly concerned with casting numbers as long as it works.

A '32 head is by itself. '29-'33 will bolt on the block but have different valves, height, spark plug holes, etc.

Stay with the 1932 head....IF you can find a good one. Based on the many calls that I have had over the years from guys looking for 1932 cylinder heads......if I had a truck load of good 1932 cylinder heads I would be a zillionaire!!

This confirms why I wasn't terribly disappointed to discover my '32 has a '33 head.
I was advised on another forum too that the early heads were prone to cracking.
As far as I know only the pushrods changed....... ?
