I have a fully restored 32 Coupe Deluxe Confederate BA with a leather luggage trunk on the rear. I am interested in possibly converting to a rumble seat style so we can use it in parades and get more people in it. I would like to know if anyone makes a conversion kit that would give me all the parts to make the swap. Anyone done this before? I would even be willing to pay for professional to do the work. Love to hear any comments on this matter. Thanks!

I believe iandireproductions.com in California offer the V shape bracket. Trunk lid bracket handle lock moves to the top by flipping the trunk lid around.

A rumble seat factory car would have a roll down rear window, from I and I a bumper step pad and a fender step pad. You will also need the correct rumble seat springs ,from ??

Note , in order for the rumble seat to be able to spin open, the rain gutter on the bottom and 1/3 up the sides has to be removed ???????? On my 35 roadster the rumble seat was standard, and the floor area was special in the foot well of the rumble seat area.

Personally I would not have a rumble seat, the trunk is a much more useful thing on a vintage vehicle.

Do you really want people stepping on the rear bumper then the fender , stepping onto the seat as they attempt to swing their foot over the quarter panel without scratching it ??? Not on my coupe or roadster.

People ask me all the time if my 35 std coupe has a rumble seat and their eyes glaze over with disappointment when I tell them no, it never came with it. On my 35 roadster its standard equipment, but I happily converted it to a trunk.

The trunk lid and rumble seat lid are very different. You can't just spin the trunk lid around and have it fit as the curve of the rear quarter at the opening is not the same top and bottom halves. Also the rear lower panel for a trunk is not the same as the rumble seat so that must be changed. Also necessary to change the floor panels as they are different as well. So are the hinges, side gutters, latches, handles.

Bottom line it is not easy to make the conversion and likely will cost thousands of $$$$ to get it done.

Mike is correct by not switching it over to a rumble seat mainly because you lose the trunk storage area! I have a rumble seat on my 34 Chevy Roadster and miss that extra space and been thinking of adding a luggage rack onto the rear bumper brackets.

I agree with all of the above. And, changing over to a rumble seat is not worth the thousands of dollars spent to do so.

I have a correct luggage rack on my 35 coupe, the phaeton and also one for the roadster.
Have no seen any come up for sale 34-35 on ebay in a year. You have to get them as complete as possible because the stainless trim and the emblem are extremely rare , and pricey.

I agree with Chip! And Skip! There is no way to just flip a trunk lib around and turn it into a rumble lid. Or a rumble lid to a trunk lid. There are may parts which need to be changed including they don't contour the same. If you have a model A Ford you can flip the lid. When I get home from the SW tour I'll show you the difference between a rumble lib and trunk lib. So in conclusion, Mike is wrong unless you want to scab your car together.
