Ready to install both engine side pans. Do I need to pull the starter and steering box to get them installed? What is easiest way? Any help appreciated.

Hi Neil,
I have a 29 and the side pans have cut outs in order to fit without having to remove any major parts.
I am sure the 32 would be the same and you should be able to fit then quite easily.

On my 1929 the left side pan has the engine exhaust pipe going through a hole in the pan. If the exhaust is not installed no problem

'32 is the same. Have to remove the exhaust pipe and maybe the oil filler/draft tube to install the left side pan. It is possible to install without removing the tube but far easier if it is removed. Only takes removing the nut and washer and wiggling out the tube.

The installation can be a little tricky. They have to be maneuvered a bit to get over and past the frame cross members. I don't remember but was thinking they need to be slid up and back then front lifted and finally all slid forward into position on left side because of the generator. Think it was better to have brackets already installed but not tightened fully. Been too long ago since I put on a set. Have two sets to do in the next couple of weeks.

I removed the 2 mounting wings at the front of both sides of the engine front (not the correct name) and loosened the starter bolts and they both slid right into place. Then reinstalled the 2 wings and bolted them to the side pans. Took about 15 - 20 minutes per side (working by myself with a flashlight).
