I've noticed that my "Number of Posts" has not changed recently. I looked at frequent posters Junkyard Dog and ChevyGene and their post numbers are not advancing either. Not a big deal for me, just found it interesting.

Now that's interesting, when I approved this post and looked at my number of posts, the number registered had advanced by one, yet my previous few postings have all had the number 795 listed.

My post numbers have always advanced every time that I have made a post. Before making this post the count is 28179. When I make the post the count should be 28180.

Just checked the count after making this post and it has advanced by one to 28180 as it should.

I can rebuild the post listing for the entire forum, but I'll need to shut down the site for about an hour or so.

Also, note that there are a couple of areas where I don't allow the posts to increase. I'm drawing a blank right now, but I remember a long time ago about fixing it so that people who bitch too much don't get credit for new postings!! Ha ha.....

ChevyGene

Could be Florida Gene. Go to the 1934-41 section, Topic - "Rear bearing Oil slinger". You made two posting on this thread and both were #24417. Look at some of your other recent posting at view the posting number.

JunkyardDog

Take a look at the 1929-32 section. Look at topic - "Questions about my new 1932 Confederate". This topic has 9 panels of comments. You made 17 posting on this thread and all have the same posting number #28180

Yes, they should all have the same posting count number because each time that I post all of the previous posting counts update to the new current count number as they should. For example, when I had 28179 posts all of my previous posts also had a count of 28179. When I made a new post in reply to your question regarding post counts, then my current count changed to 28180, along with all of the other previous post counts. That is how Chevy Chatter has worked for years.

Now, when I click "submit" for this post my post count will now reflect 28181 as will all of the other post counts also. That is how it is supposed to work.

If you check your post of #51199 dated January 10, 2002, you will see that your post count is 797, which is also the same as your current post. When you make a new post, which will be 798, then all of your previous posts will change to read 798, which would be your current post count. That way, when anyone clicks on any of your posts...even from many years ago, your current post count will be shown and they will know how many posts you have made since you have been on Chevy Chatter.

The count system is working correctly.

Hey Billy Boy Barker....since it ain't broke...don't fix it. drink

Right after Chevy Chatter came on line many moons ago, I thought the exact same thing as you did about the post counter. Talked to Billy Boy Barker about it back then and he explained to me how the post counter thingy worked. After he explained the system then it all made sense.
