I will be the owner of a pickup soon and the current owner is not sure of the model year. We need to get a new title and there are no records at the state DMV on file for this vehicle. It is a 1/2 ton pickup, maybe a '50 or'51??, serial #9JPA3337 and I need to know if it is possible to find out the model year from the serial number. I hope this is the correct section of the forum to ask this question. I will appreciate any help finding this information.

If you do not have an existing title or registration in the name of the seller, showing the truck information, can you obtain a new title in your name ? In my state of NC, you cannot.

Thank you!! Is the serial number information available on this site? I looked around and didn't find it. Yes, we can get title here in Minnesota. We need to provide photos including the last license plate and a title can be issued. There is no record of this vehicle currently in the system due to system upgrades recently done by the state.

Good that you can obtain a title.

Here in NC, with their laws, it almost takes an audience with the Pope to get anything out of the ordinary to happen.

Take time to look through this site below and keep it for your reference.

Look at OLDIE's response. I believed he provided you all the serial number information you needed. ???
