For all of you 36 Chevrolet guy's out their. Is their a preferred type of brake fluid that works best in these old systems? I live in the northeast so not sure if that is a factor or not. Their seems to be a number of opinions out their. The car is a 36 Master FA 36-1011.

I have used dot 3 and dot 4 as well as silicone. Dot 3 and dot 4 are the same except dot 4 has more glycol for a higher boiling point. That also raises the boiling point to a higher temperature...except due to the extra glycol it attracts water more easily. US cars (new) use dot 3, European cars used dot 4 but recommend changing the fluid more often
Then there is Silicone fluid. If used any "rubber" parts in the sytem should be replaced. It does not boil or remove paint and resists attracting water through the vented cap.
I used that in two of my cars and had no problems.
My 2 1/2 cents worth.

I use DOT 3 on both of my '36's. No problems.
