As I follow these posts, numerous times the statement is made that "it's so easy to just drop in a 216ci or 235ci replacement". I have a nice '33 coupe with no engine, and, while I will eventually build a correct engine for the car, I would like to enjoy it somewhat now. I have engines, 216ci and 235ci, that I would like to "drop in" for whatever period without having to modify anything that would affect future restoration efforts. I want to use the original trans, but I don't know about a bellhousing, mounts, linkage, etc.
I have received suggestions from some but I'm having trouble tying it all together. I was in hope that there might be an "article" somewhere that was sort of a guide to the operation.
I would appreciate any info to help move me forward with this project if it is feasible.
Thanks for any advice,

I looked up the motor mounts and the bell housing in my 29-49 parts book and found that both carry a different number than those for a 216 or later engine.

I don't know what the difference would be but I assume that you would have to do some modifications to make a 216 fit in the 33.

I'm sorry I can't be more precise as to what you would need to do but a 33 predates me by a year or so. hood

I hope that you will soon get better answers to your question.

Best,

Thanks for the response. I felt like, based on the numerous comments I see on this change, any number of folks would have the knowledge to share. However, I suppose the number that actually do the change themselves may be more limited.
Thanks again,
