this car just came back from the paint/body shop. So I'm lookin it over... appears they installed an aftermarket 'running board' that you see after opening the door,. with the door closed, the front of the running board is flush with the outside of the door. The rear of the running board is about 1 1/2 " out beyond the body. Is this normal ????

yes, 42 Ford 2 dr. OK, so they're not really running boards, it's the flat area under the door , sill plate (?), conceled until you open the door. Looks like a running board after you open the door. the front is flush with the door, and the rear sticks out over an inch

That would not be correct. Should show the same margin all the way, front to back. Just shy of the outside edge.Google 42 Ford or search e-bay for 42 Ford. Might find a picture.
