There is no cowl tag on the 55 2-door sedan I am considering. One of the sellers family members may have the original receipt from when the car was purchased. But, even without the paperwork I am most likley going to buy the car. Can you get repro cowl tags ??

Ditto on the A.G. recommendation.

Trim Tags are far from being an accurate reproduction..... with poor excuses as to why it can/can't be done.

Somebody said - and I think it may have been Chef Chevy when he was telling me about his need - they run about $175. Seems like a lot of $$ to me!!! Bill.

Hi there.

My name is Gus and I'm from Sweden. I'm a new member of this VCCA.

I have a question about VIN and CowlTag:
I'm about to buy a -55 BelAir 2dr HT here in Sweden and that car have no CowlTag, but of course it has VIN-Tag.
Can you remake the CowlTag-info if you have only the VIN-Tag?

I hope for a quick reply from someone!
Gus

The information on the cowl tag is completely different from the VIN tag. There is no way to get the correct info. for the cowl tag.The body style would be easy. The paint and interior trim numbers could be matched to the colors presently on the car.The actual body number would impossible to locate. A number would need to be "made up".

Gus,
The answer is a partial yes.

See the Cowl tag missing . It is a post on a '57 convertible that was also missing the cowl tag. If you click on the link it will take you to it. Or just look down this category until you find it.
