When I click my shortcut to the vcca I arrive and am logged in upon arrival. Then I click on the forum button I arrive not logged in. I then log in and check the keep me box. However, every time I change pages I arrive not logged in. I then log in again. This time I do not check the keep me box and I will remain logged in and can changed pages with no problem.

What is going on?????

I have not been able to post for some time, always being knocked off line, as soon as I logged on.

I just read Uncle Ed's solution by NOT CLICKING ON THE "REMEMBER ME BOX" and I can now post, without issues.

Something needs fixin' that hasn't been fixed for a couple of weeks or so.

Thanks Uncle Ed !

I have had the same problem as stated above and had to ask Bill to fix my problem. He performs his magic and everything works normal.

When you log in and don't log out, you have to sign in again in a month or so. That is how the feature works.

Yes, understood. I must now log in each time I visit, as you are doing.

If I click the "remember me box", I'm knocked off line, as soon as I click on any topic I may want to read.

Another thing that sometimes works is to KILL your CHAT cookies. Look down the right column for the link to this.

And now that you've "cleaned" out your old Chat cookies, you can close your browser window. Then open a fresh window and go through the normal LOGIN process.

In my case, did all that. No change. As said above, I am logged in upon arrival at home page. Click on forum tab, arrive logged out. I then log in. IF I check the "keep me " box I will be logged out when I go to the next page. IF I DO NOT check the "keep me" box, I then stay logged in.

This is happening from my home pc AND my work pc.

It just suddenly started working yesterday, then I read Bill Barkers post and I did clean out my chat cookies just to be safe. Computers are both a joy and a frustration for me, mostly because I don't know enough about them. I am sure glad my old Chevrolets don't have them!!!

Russel,
I can help you with this if you provide some additional information.

What browser are you using? Google Chrome, or Microsoft IE?

What home page? http://vcca.org or https://vccachat.org

Click on forum tab, arrive logged out.
Is this tab on http://vcca.org ?

This indicates a BROWSER issue. Your browser is not saving your vcca/chat cookie.

Quote
IF I DO NOT check the "keep me" box, I then stay logged in.
That's because it's now using the cookie from your PREVIOUS visit.

THINGS YOU CAN TRY:
1. Read the last posting in this thread.
LINK ONE
The only way I could find to resolve it was to "uncheck" the setting to delete cookies upon exit. You get to this through "Internet Options" under "Tools" in Internet Explorer.

2. Read this thread.
Once you get logged onto the ACTIVE TOPICS page save that page to your FAVORITES or BOOKMARKS and when you click on that FAV or bookmark it should come up logged onto, unless you wipe out your cookies or erase your histories.

LINK TWO

Let us know.

Yes, same scenario here, except I do not have a work computer. Don't have a job anymore...... dance

Bill,
IE 11
vcca.org
tab at vcca.org

So, I cleared all cookies (with a tall glass of milk)
Brower history, all gone (now I have to log in at all my old sites)Hope I can find my password list again.
Even deleted my short-cut on my desktop.

Went to vccachat.org. Signed in, checked save me box. Can now visit any page on the forum page ok. Clicked "Home" tab at top of forum page and arrived Home (vcca.org) logged out. Clicked "back button" arrived at Forum logged in.

Just to be clear, all was fine until the change over a few weeks ago.

Placed a new short-cut to forum page on desktop.
Thanks
Will live with this!

Russell,
It sounds like you cleared up a "cookie" problem with your browser. But time will tell.

Now the bad news. In order for the new web page to work properly at the new hosting site, we need to change the address of the CHAT site. Sometime in the next couple of weeks, the address is going to change. Then ALL COOKIES for EVERYONE will not work any longer.

Watch for additional postings by Peter G (our new Webmaster) for updates to this conversion.
