Working on routing my wires under the dash as well as the Speedo Cable. Thanks to Bare Feet, looks like the Speedo goes down the back center of the firewall through a hold down w/ bolt. but WHERE does it go from there ??

does it go behind the pedals (between pedal rod and radiator side), or in front of pedals (between pedal rod and brake cross bar). are there ANY other hold downs/ clamps on the cable ??

any pictures of the proper routing would be appreciated. unfortunately the PO did not have it hooked up properly and it was hanging in limbo.

I think that we have discussed the routing of the speedometer cable several times in the past. You might want to do a search (ya, I know....the search feature sucks) here on Chevy Chatter to see if you can find the posts that talks about the correct routing of the cable.

Yes, the search function is challenging, but here's how to use it: Search hints and tips

For example, if you search the 1929-32 forum with a search criteria of +speedometer +cable +routing, you get three pages of past posts.

Cheers, Dean

Thanks guys, got that :)

anyone have pictures of this "L" bracket and where it mounts ?? do not see anywhere on the frame rail to mount anything, unless it doubles up on the backside of the Brake Rod Spring Clip Bolt ?? and there is a small hole up on the transmission cross member next to the Brake Pedal spring.

In our previous discussions on Chevy Chatter regarding the speedometer cable, I believe that there is also a photo showing the "L" bracket and info. on its location. Hopefully it will show up in your search.

Yes, Anagriff had a link to one, BUT the link does not work Post Date 2006. another talk was referenced to someone possibly could email the picture for a 32, that was in 2007.

Believe me i try to do my due diligence and search, search, read, re read before i ask a question. I look through my MPLs the Owners manual, the Repair Manuals, the catalogs i have on hand, and all the pictures i have taken at Hershey and other Car Shows. when i see a 1929-32 car or truck at a show, i take hundreds of pictures, inside and out. and if permitted i crawl under the, as well. but it seems i did not get pictures of these small things i am missing or can not figure out. if i knew then i would have :)

Bear, I added a couple photos to the album which show the speedometer cable bracket. The body is off so the end of the cable is lying nest to the carburetor.

The speedometer cable bracket shown in the two lower right photos as part of link
https://photos.app.goo.gl/xx0DT1qj2Qgj7DeH2 is installed upside down. The speedometer cable bracket should be turned around the other way and the cable clip is then attached to the top of the bracket as shown in the photo.

The hole for the bracket is in the vertical part of the driver's side frame rail.

Thanks !!

ok i do NOT have that Bracket, and looks like it does mount on the back of the bolt that holds the Brake Rod Spring on my 1929.

This is inside the rail, looking forward to front of car, Rusty Nut marks where the Bracket would go ??
Bracket Mount for 1929

this is the outside of the rail same place, notice spring for rod mounts on here.

JY Dog so you agree that LOOKS like the Speedo Bracket mounted on the WRONG side of the Rail ??

I will have to remove the spring, then the nuts & screw, and then see if the Bracket was PAINTED to the frame or just installed on that side. hopefully the latter, but i do not expect it to be so with this rebuild....

Thanks, going to strip prime & paint the bracket, then reinstall and secure. does the cable routing look correct ?? it does NOT interfere with the pedals or any other moving part. also NO hard sharp bends.
