The last reproduction '25-'28 radiator shells I know of were made over 30 years ago. There might be a few that were purchased and not used. Good luck!

Used shells appear on eBay occasionally. That is probably your best bet. Or you might get lucky and someone that has an extra one might see your need and offer one for sale.

Thanks Chipper, I thought there was some one here in Oz doing them in the last 5 years, Ive seen the replacement part to repair the base of aluminium surrounds, last month at a swap. But we have nothing so looking for the whole thing, god forbid I might have to go with a Ford one they are available any day of the week. Ray

Hi Ray,

As far as I know Old Era Services http://www.oldera.com.au/blog/customers-cars/

still makes part and full 28 shell repos, don't know if they make 27's

They are here in Oz.

Cheers

Ray

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

No luck there Ray, I'm making my 28 speedster, and wanted to go with a shorter radiator , going to take it out at this years Vintage race meet in Wakefield Park, near Goulburn NSW Sept 18th, I might just use the damaged 28 surround I have and get the bottom replaced. Also looking for a set of wire wheels 6 stud 21 to 19" is fine . Ray

Hi Ray , Here i n Australia those radiator repair pannels where sold through Ron Ferguson and as many know he has passed away many years ago, the sheet metal guy who made the parts for ron has also passed his shop use to be at Lidcombe.Good luck finding the lower pannel . Also the the USA repo surounds where made in LA at Reds Califorina Metal Craft and sadley he to has passed and the machines sold off.

Considering that the '28 hood is longer than the earlier hoods, I would think that it would be a problem matching up the contour of the top of an earlier radiator shell to the front of the '28 hood.

When you mentioned that you wanted a shorter radiator, my first thought was to suggest using a '27 or '28 one ton truck radiator. But, then I thought about the hood problem.

Let us know what you come up with.

Cheers, Dean

hi Dean I'm making the body my self and a half bonnet out of aluminium, I'll post a few pics tomorrow if the rain has cleared, of my timber work, I'm making it as low as possible for obvious reasons, the seat will be on the chassis and I'll be just able to pear over the bonnet. Ray
