Have a friend that want to change 50 2dr sdn from stick shift to automatic,he had a stroke and can't shift to good..anyone out there changed to auto ?? does the complete steering column need to be change ?? what about brake pedal and hole for clutch?? he has the 1954 3:55 rear end installed now..will power glide fit right in or do need to change driveline etc ???sc

If it were me I would sell the stick shift and buy an automatic.

The changes necessary would be very extensive and expensive. Would not advise. Yes, find a car with an Power Glide.

I agree with Chev Nut as to that being an expensive conversion.
You didn't mention what engine your 50 has. If it has a 235 or later 235, you would be able to hook up to a powerglide automatic but I think you'd still have to change the drive shaft and rear. There are powerglides for sale but not everyone is expert at rebuilding these babies. Master cylinder and shift linkage would have to be swapped out too, methinks.
You'd save some $$ if you could find a powerglide parts car.
