My 30 coupe, starts, idles, fine however, mtake it for a short ride, and it bogs down, fires back thru the carb and stops. Wait a few minutes and it stars up again and away we go. Seems like it runs out of gas, but tank is full. Help

need more detail ?!? does it do it while cruising ?? only under acceleration ?? after its been running for xx minutes ?? all the time ?? only the first time ??
if you have it idle in the driveway, and press accelerator does it do the same thing ? slow rev up, fast rev up ?

Yes it does it cruising, seems to do it under load, yes, will do it again after it restarts. No problem accelerating from idle. Does it about ten minutes into the ride

Does anyone believe this is a fuel delivery problem?

I am thinking coil or condenser is over heating. Could be fuel problem if delivery from tank to carburetor is restricted not allowing full flow to carburetor. Could be leak in fuel pump diaphragm or weak springs.

Hook up a temporary gravity feed fuel supply and see what happens. Sediment in the gas line can stop the flow of gas and then settle when the engine is stopped. Thus it will restart until the sediment is again pulled to a restricted spot.

I have a fuel filter inline right after the gas tank to catch anything. Think I will try the other fuel sorce.

I have one on my car also and it's a clear see thru filter. I had a similar situation and when looking at the filter it had some sediment but was not plugged, or so I thought. What was happening was the sediment was being pulled against the outlet end screen when running shutting off the gas supply and when stopped it resettled to the bottom of the filter allowing the gas to flow. I could go 10-12 miles and then it would quit just like I had turned off the ignition switch. Eventually I had to have the gas tank cleaned and that solved the problem.

Good day everyone If it's a fuel problem, the carb bowl will run dry but there will still be fuel in the accelerator pump well. So. As the car stalls and is coasting to a stop, pump the throttle a few times. If the engine starts back up for a few revolutions, it's a fuel problem.
If it's a spark problem, I would pull off a plug wire and hold it about 1/8 of an inch away from the spark plug while someone cranks the engine. If see a spark or get a shock it's not an electrical problem. But that's just what I would do. Or better yet one could buy special pliers that have the handles rubber coated. Still getting a shock might happen. And it hurts a lot. I would keep my hand as far away from the end of the wire as I could.
If it's a coil or condenser problem, heat is causing an open circuit. So if the engine starts back up in less than 5 minutes with the hood closed is likely to be something else. If it takes 1/2 hour or longer to get the to get the engine running again it could be the coil or condenser.
Or it could be something entirely. Bye for now Hope this helps. The shock from a spark plug hurts a lot.

Yes I would like to know if you solved this problem as I have the same thing going on with my 1929! I had the carb rebuilt as I thought that was the problem but still happens when it warms up all of a sudden it coughs through the carb and loses power. I can usually coax it to stay alive with some effort. It will only seem to do this under a load as in climbing a hill or right at the top of the climb.

Did not solve the problem. Going to set up an outside fuel source other than the gas tank and see if that works Stumped
