the local 55-57 Chevy club in Dallas display a fine group of '55 Chevys at the Dallas Autorama in celebration of the 50th birthday of the 1955 Chevy.. the local news did some coverage along with newspapers and there was quite a bit of attention to the '55 Chevy generated.. you will soon find pictures and the TV news segment on the club website at Dallas Area Classic Chevys web site

Just purchased and am restoring an original, unmodified '55 Bel Air Golden Ann., original gold paint and all. Two questions: Where can I find the original paint, and how can I find out how many originals are still in existence? I was told 6 in the world..... but really???

For the gold paint I would try Auto Color Library. You will need the paint number which is on the Fisher Body plate on the firewall. I can't find the paint number listed in any other material. All I can find is that it was called Anniversary Gold. If I remember correctly all gold cars were Bel Air 4 doors with a tan interior. Could have any engine as the paint color was the only special thing. No one knows how many exist today but it will be many more than six.

The 50th anniversary for Chevrolet was not in 1955, it was 1962. Instead, 1955 represented the 50,000,000 Chevrolet produced. The gold Bel Air 4 door, paint # 689, represented this achievement.
