I recently put my tranny back in my 47 fleetmaster and after having the transmission rebuilt and taking it in and out twice for various other troubles I am having trouble getting it to go into 2nd gear with out force or grinding. Did not have that trouble prior to removing the transmission. I am hearing a air type leakage from the vacuum shift and if I lift the shift lever a bit it gets quieter. Could the vacuum shift create a problem for shifting? it goes into reverse and 1st and 3rd OK. or could it be dirt or a burr on the synchro shaft? Not to schooled on these so any help is appreciated.

Did you replace the 2nd speed gear or any of the syncro. parts? If not I would suspect the linkage.

I did not rebuild it, Another fella did. and I did not mess with the linkage adjustment at all either. If clutch not adjusted exactly can that do it? And can vacuum advance leak cause that? It has been a real headache for me. THX
