Hi guys. I have seen photos of stamped sheet metal trays used I believe for tool storage that reside under the front seat of 1931 Chevys. My question is whether or not these trays were installed on all vehicle models. My ”˜31 Coach does not have such a tray, only a piece of plywood flooring, but it could be that the tray rusted away or was removed prior to my ownership. It occurred to me that perhaps the trays were used only on certain models but I do not know. For the Coach body style, the front seats tilt forward to allow access to the rear compartment. The passenger would therefore have to step over this tray to get to the back seat. Seemed inconvenient to me unless the tray had a cover of some kind. Can anyone educate me please? As always your help is much appreciated. Tom Fowler VCCA #5898

The tray on my '31 Coach had a plywood cover. Sold the car over 40 years ago so can't get you a photo. Cover is not necessary on Sedans and Coupes as they had a full width front seat.

How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!
