Is there someone in our VCCA community who rebuilds / replaces 235" Rochester Single Barrel carbs ?

I have tried several times to make contact with Doyle Stokes.

I leave a voice message ..... then repeat the same steps a few days later.

Thanks,
Bob.

Thanks Steve, saw his ad, but did not read far enough. I saw that he repaired Carter carbs, did not see the Rochester name.

Has anyone used Dean for their carb repairs?
Turn around time ?

Thanks,
Bob.

I've used Dean. He's fast and does good work. Runs the carbs on 1938 216 in his coupe.

He was trained and recommended by Chipper.

Bob, I believe your original problem was leakage at the front of the cover. This is a commmon Rochester problem due to cover warpage. At one time I "straightened" a cover and it worked for awhile. Also years back it was discussed here about using a gas proof sealer on the gasket.

Gene,

I asked Doyle to rebuild a carb for me, as a "back up unit".

I'm not certain the carb I received was the carb I sent, but that was not important to me.

I kept the carb covered on a shelf, stored until I wanted to swap it out.

After installing the carb and starting the car, gas flowed out of the lower bowl area, above the carb base.

On this rebuilt carb, there is a small 3/16" or so welch plug in the body of the carb. The leak appears to be coming from that plug, but cannot be certain. Don't know the purpose of this plug.

I have not seen this plug on other Rochester 1 bbl carbs.
