What color should the oil filter canister be on a '51. In some pictures that I have seen they are blue with orange top. I will be painting mine with a rattle can so a color that is close will be fine.

Thanks

If it was ordered as a factory installed option it was black
If it was dealer or owner installed and an AC it would be a bright medium blue with and orange lid.

Not sure....but probally does.

It was a facrory option in 1947. Srangely is says not available for cabroilet. I don't recall anything on the left side of the engine compartment that would make it diferent from a sedan.

While that site is very informitive many of the filters pictres were not the ones offered by Chevrolet. While AC was a division of GM Chevrolet offered only certain oil filters nade by AC.
