Does anyone have any suggestions or comments about replacement of outer rear axle seal #RW-41? I purchased a complete axle seal kit #AF-82K from the Filling Station? I removed the felt seal from the outer seal retainer, ground down the dimples that hold the felt seal in place, applied RTV silicon, and attempted to reinstall. The 10 bolt seal retainer would not draw up tight to the axle tube. In fact, the retainer bent and I broke two bolts. I took the other seal retainer and flipped the replacement neoprene seal #RW-41 and attempted to test fit on the other side of the axle tube. Same problem I cannot draw the seal retainer tight to the axle tube without deforming the retainer. Do I need different outer axle seals? Do I need to take measurements of any parts to compare and confirm?

I would take measurements and go to my local bearing store. They should have a seal that will fit.

If you install a double sealed axle bearing then you won't need an outer seal.

Not a bad idea there Junkyard Dog. I have one axle bearing that is marginal.
