My speedometer will not work in any forward gear but works in reverse? Is it damaged, installed incorrectly, or has a part missing? Carlyle

Check the speedo cable come out on the left side of the gear box. If it come out on the right side the speedometer will goes the wrong way.

If the gear set is from a late 4 cylinder instead of early 6 the cable will run backwards.

You bet! Glad to help out. As Mark discovered after our conversation, the speedometer driven gear was indeed installed backwards.
