I've tried several local sources to find a matching copper gasket that goes under the large brass cap without luck. Mine has seen better days. FS and others don't seem to carry it, only the smaller copper gasket for the body bolt. Does it have to be copper ? Copper more compatible with brass ?
Thanks !

If the surfaces are clean and flat I see no reason brass would not work.
The original was copper and asbestose packed. Book demensions were 3/4" ID and 1 1/8" OD.
3/4" = 24/32" and the 18 MM spark plug gasket that your 1932 uses requires a 23/32" gasket. Tf you have a new spark plug gasket see if it will fit (may need a slight hone job).

I tried a spark plug washer. Little too tight and not wide enough. McMaster-Carr has listings for similar copper "sealing washers" or "crushing washers". I'll give them a jingle next week. I get cross eyed trying to read their thousands of listings. crazy
Thank you for the info and dimensions !!

From the catalog "restoration supply company, escondido,ca", you should look for copper crush port gasket.
