Good Day Everyone,
At any speed above 30 mph my 32 Chev coupe will leak antifreeze out of the radiator over flow tube. I know what you guys are thinking......I just overfilled the radiator. BUT no I didn't. If I look into the radiator I can see the core. Then if I rev the engine up without the cap I can see antifreeze coming thru the top hose into the top tank and up into the collar that holds the cap in place. Now if I let the engine back to idle I can see the core again.

I have an original top and bottom tank plus a honey comb core from the Fillingstation
Could I be missing a baffle that prevents antifreeze from going into the collar that holds the cap on???
Bye for now
Mike

Cracked head or bad head gasket. First test I would perform.

Also check that the water pump is not drawing air through the packing gland when you rev up the engine, which entrains air in the coolant and takes up more space with the air bubbles, thus raising the coolant level up to the overflow.

All the Best, Chip

Hi Guys
Thanks for the suggestions. I will check them out.
There is no coolant in the oil, no white smoke from the exhaust, no leaks from the water pump, no external leaks other than the overflow tube, when I look into the radiator and rev up the engine the coolant does not look foamy.

A little of my cars history. In 1937 it was in an accident and an aftermarket radiator was installed. I wanted an original radiator so I purchased original 1932 top and bottom tanks from eBay plus a core from the filling station.

If I remove the radiator cap and look inside, should I be able to see the hole and metal elbow where the upper radiator hose connects to the top tank? Or is there a baffle that prevents coolant from squirting up toward the cap?

Bye for now

The only baffle plate is located in the engine block behind the water pump.

Does your car overheat?

Hi
Nope my car does not overheat.

When you remove the cap and look into the top tank can you see the hole where the metal elbow connects?

You will not see water in the oil or exhaust somke with a cracked head.
You can purchase a tester for the coolant from NAPA that will tell you if the is CO2 in the coolant indiacting a compressio/exhaust leak.
