I am trying to disassemble a 216CI engine that came off a 1938 Master. I took all of the external bolts out and can not get the bell housing off. Are there bolts inside that have to come off? If so, are there holes in the fly wheel that have to be used to get access or how does it work?

Your clutch disc has rusted to the transmission input shaft. Sometimes rusted so bad that I have had to take a torch and cut everything off. It is a matter of what do you want to sacrifice vs what you wish to save.

I have no experience with a 1938,216 engine, but I have plenty of experience with the 49 to 52 216 engine. On the later 216, the flywheel must be removed, then you will see bell housing to engine bolts, behind the flywheel...... if the 1938 has the same attaching pattern.

Bob is correct, the flywheel needs to be removed to access some of the bell housing to block bolts and remove the bell housing. If the gearbox input shaft has rusted into the clutch disc you have a major dilemma on your hands. Tony

To be specific there are four bellhousing bolts behind the flywheel and two external bolts on top.
My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .
