What is the safest way to remove door handle and truck handle ferrule?

Will replace with new after painting.

Thanks much.

Assuming the truck is the same as a car, there's a small set screw that you access from the door jamb. Turn the handle a bit and the screw lines up with the hole in the jamb. Remove the screw and the handle pulls out.

Thanks Tiny, I have the handle out, what I want to do is remove the ferrule. Looking for the easiest and safest way to remove it without damage to the door.

Thanks much

If you have the inner panel off you'll probably have to get in there with a pair of plyers. It's constructed like a hollow rivet.
