There are a lot of aftermarket decal kits out there with incorrect color schemes but, original colors were blue bowtie & red stripes.

I looked at the restoration packet from the GM Heritage center and it looks to me like the white stripes might be correct for 55 1st series. As mentioned, red for 54. I emailed to MT so will see how he interprets it.

That was an interesting document Greg.

I don't know if it was tied into some kind of specific color combination option on the cab or not, but it does indicate that the hood badge stripes should be bombay ivory for 1955 1st series.

I have never seen one with anything other than red stripes.

Considering that the 55 first series trucks were only made for a few months.... that would make that hood badge a rare bird indeed.

I am now wondering if the bombay ivory was used across the board on all 55.1 hood badges
{ including the 1 1/2 , 2 ton & COE models}
or was ivory only used on the 1/2 to 1 ton models ?

Getting back to the original question....I still don't think that white stripes are correct
{ unless he is mistaking ivory for white }.

I think the same page on the 54 restoration packet calls for "vermillion" stripes. I read that as red. Maybe Bombay Ivory as you mentioned is loosely interpreted as "white"

The source that MT and I were referring to came from here. https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-heritage-archive/vehicle-information-kits.html

Find your truck year, download the packet and the emblem color info is somewhere in there.
