Can some one enlighten me on what the 11 Fisher Body Plant Codes are for 1955? The 11 Plants that I know are:
1. Atlanta -
2. Baltimore - ?
3. Cleveland Coit Ave - CL
4. Flint No. 2 - ?
5. Janesville - ?
6. Kansas City - ?
7. Norwood - ?
8. Oakland - ?
9, St Louis - ?
10. Tarrytown - ?
11. Van Nuys - VN

The two cars I have the bodies came from CL and VN so I know they are correct.

Pretty easy...

A = Atlanta
B = Baltimore
F = Flint, MI
J = Janesville, WI
K = Kansas City, MO
L = Los Angeles
N = Norwood, OH
O = Oakland, CA
S = St Louis, MO
T = Tarrytown, NY

Cleveland was a Fisher body plant and not an assembly plant.

I am looking for the Fisher Body plant code off the cowl tag - not the Chevrolet Assembly Plant off the dooe jam. I always though this letter code was 2 to 3 letters for this period.

While "L" was the Los Angeles Assembly plant located in Van Nuys, California - the Fisher Body Plant code was "NY". Cleveland Coit Street Body Plant, code "CL", made the Nomad bodies and perhaps other Station Wagon bodies and the Sedan Delivery. Fisher Body also had another Body Plant in Cleveland on Euclid, Plant Code "EUC" where some bodies were made for the Chevrolet Flint Assembly Plant. I have also heard that the Fisher Body Flint Plant No 1 [the Buick Body Plant with Code "H" or "FLI"]also supplied bodies to the Chevrolet Flint Assembly Plant.
Are you sure the Altanta Body Plant wasn't "AL" or "ALT"? And most of the other body plants used 2 or 3 numbers?

Sorry - the Van Nuys Body Plant Code should read "VN".

In the case of the Van Nuys plant, the Fisher Body Plant was located within the same building as the Chevrolet Assembly plant when built in 1948. While the new Chhevrolet Flint Assembly Plant that open in 1947 did not have a Fisher Body plant on site or adjacent to, but had to truck bodies from the old Fisher Body Flint Plant No. 2 that was located on Chevrolet Ave in west Flint.

We are talking 55-57 in this forum. I can't speak of pre 55 models.

The letter codes on the cowl tag were single letters as listed - not duals. I agree with the other info you posted, in regards to the wagons/nomad bodies in Ohio.

Ollie, do we have evidence of EP = Euclid being used before 1959? Of course Oshawa did not have any need for a Fisher Code but after 1964 when St Therese, Quebec opened ["ST"] Oshawa became "OS". People get confused when they see Canadian VINs as they think that a number "0" is a letter "O" for "Oshawa", and that extends of course from 1955 at least, to 1964.
