I am having trouble with my power window ,drivers side. I have had the motor rebuilt, new plastic rollers on regulator.. I have eliminated everything I can think of. My problem is; the motor binds up when attached to regulator, and won't move on the gear. It appears that the regulator is warped and when the motor is bolted to it the binding occurs. It doesn't look like it is warped to the naked eye, but its the only thing I can think of. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem.?

Thanks I'll give it a try. I will try anything at this point, I have had the motor and regulator out and in so many times I'm wearing out the bolts. And my patience.

Well I tried shimming the motor, on the bench it works pretty good, but still jams when it reaches the end of regulator gear,. I am getting really good at taking the regulator out of car and putting it back in. If anyone has pictures of the regulator/motor, and the naked door, I could possibly use them. Thanks John

Well, if you mean the scissors action ,It appears to work just fine on the workbench, but when installed in the door,it seems to drag a bit.then when the gear reaches the end it binds up and won't reverse. I'm afraid it will burn up my motor again. I put new nylon rollers on them so that isn't the problem. I think I will take some pictures and post them here so maybe someone can see something that I can't. Believe me it is driving me crazy. I would like to get my car back on the road for summer, although looking out the window at this moment it's snowing again.

You know, it just may be that the door itself was damaged or twisted, once upon a time, causing the regulator to bind, when fastened securely to the door sheet metal.

You may need to do some trial and error shimming, using flat washers or such, between the door sheet metal and the window regulator.

Have you tried manually raising and lowering the glass in the channels to be see if it binds? I don't know if the channel tracks are adjustable but they need to be parallel for the glass to ride smoothly.

I finally got the regulator to work properly, I lined up the bolt holes on the motor and regulator and tightend them and it seemed to work , then I put the regulator and motor in the door and noticed the slider bar was not level. I assumed it needed to be level going up and down for the window to work properly. (Big question) did I put the new rollers in the right direction on the regulator? Can anyone tell me the measurements , Length on each leg? I have taken a picture of the regulator, but I don't know how to download it to this forum, or if it's allowed. Maybe someone can help me there. If someone has the measurements and wants to see the picture, you can e-mail me and I can send picture that way.fieldsj1938@charter.net thanks guys

Well, I thought I had it all figured out solved the problem;; The spring on the regulator was wound in the wrong position and would roll the window down, but not up. So I reversed the spring and re-wound the spring, now the window goes up good but not down, there isn't enough power to rewind the regulator going in the down position. I have it wound pretty tight to raise the glass, but it just won't rewind to the bottom. I might say if you push the window with some umph it will go down. Go figure. Does anyone know how tight the spring needs to be to work in both directions.?

I am thinking you have the wrong spring. If a replacement or reproduction it might not have been made correctly.

I'm working on that now. The filling station says they don't make a reproduction, so now I'm looking for an original part. Can anyone help. I wonder if the manual regulator spring is the same?
