I got a call today from a local gentleman who asked if I could help him. He has a 35' 3w coupe in original condition and he needs to sell it. He is looking for the average value. I am waiting on him to call me back so I can get the answers to more detailed questions. His said that it ran well and is in very good condition with no rust or problems. Some high to low ball park figures would be appreciated.

You'll need more information on condition to get an estimated value. Someone recently had a 34 Std. Coupe for sale for 18,000, not completly correct but very close. It did not sell. 34 Standards are more rare than 35 Stds.

Low for just a nice old car would be about $8000 and high for an almost perfect restored car would be in the $18,000. The $10,000 difference would be for making the $8000 car "almost perfect".

You're right, my mistake . I saw it later. And I wanted that car. I told my wife I had a buyer for the 97 Camaro Z-28, she still said "NO".

Quite a few of these cars have appeared on ebay over the last year or so and selling in the $10---20G range . Its all about condition. Owners always think they have a 10, in reality they are more likely to be a 6-7 . Pictures tell the story !!!!!!!!!!!!! MILLIN PHIL from Ohio recently sold his 35 chev std 3 window coupe that according to Phil was a 100% correctly restored QUALITY car. Phil sold the car for $19,000 ?? I think. He did not want to go thru the tire kickers, low ballers, genuine clown school dropouts, and sold to a relative. Phil's 86 and doesn't have time to play with wanna be re-sellers of his pride and joy. mike

You're right, my mistake . I saw it later. And I wanted that car. I told my wife I had a buyer for the 97 Camaro Z-28, she still said "NO". JON, my wife said NO NO NO to the roadster and cost me a shot at a good one in Conn or NJ 6 years ago for $11,600. on ebay 3 weeks later another turned up in KY or TN and I bought it. MASSIVE MISTAKE..........the evil that was perpetrated on this poor ex Argentina built car and hidden under LAYERS of bondo, braze, thick tar, in a word was criminal. All that remains of that car as it arrived here, is : top assembly, cowl section, windshield assembly, doors, quarter panels and a couple of good bumpers, plus the original frame which is cracked in 6-7 places. Everything else got thrown out in the scrap as totally unusual. When I was buying the 35 phaeton on east coast last june, I paid absolutely no response to her saying no, only looking her in the eye and telling her, this is coming home , like it or not. Its MY earned money whats your problem, you fit the car perfectly and you can drive it like you own it. Last I heard of the squawking. mike

The guy called me back today and sent me pictures. The car runs good but is currently not running. The fenders are off and the interior is out of it. It's got a good paint job on it other than the gas tank apron that has only primer because a dent was fixed. He has 6-7 people coming to look at it for $15,000! I told him if someone offers him that much he's crazy not to let it go. Of course, others, who probably know nothing of the 30's Chevys, told him the car is worth $30k restored. When I told him the consensus of everyone here, he was of course disappointed but has accepted the fact of what it's worth.

Prices are suppressed due to Nation's economic mess. It also depends on what part of the Country you live in. I wish your friend the very best in the sale.

I like the part about "runs good but currently not running". With fenders "off" and no interior I doubt anyone would be willing to go above $8k. We all know about people who have some astronomical notion about the value of their cars, will sit on them and allow them to rot into the ground before they will sell for a fair offer. If he really wants to sell it tell him take the first guy who shows up with CASH and move on. Hope he doesn't have that money spent yet.

Remember, pictures can be very deceiving. They can give you an idea but cars usually don't look as good in person as they do in pictures.

Hi all, The 34 standard did not sell the second time either. After weeks of waiting the buyer finally sent a deposit then continued to make continued to make promises to come get the car and make the final payment, then again after weeks of waiting he backed out of purchasing the car. I just re-listed the car on eBay again today. Had the car appraised and it appraised at $18,000. Thanks, Rick

Rick sorry to hear that your 1934 Chevrolet DC Standard 3 Window Coupe did not go thru with the sale! Just a thought maybe you should post in a new thread under cars for sale older than 25 years old! You can have the car appraised for whatever $$ amount. But a lot has to do with the 2017 market with stock and original plus it seems that there is less interest in these old cars! Just my thought!
