I'm thinking I need to polarize the generator on my 33 Master 5 Window Coupe. I have read about the generating system in the maintenance manual and it does not say how to polarize it. I've watched the YouTube video's on it and they only talk about Ford tractors with regulators. Nothing that I've seen states how to polarize just the generator on a 33 chevy. And also would I need to do anything like that with the generator circuit breaker.
Thanks for the help,
Dennis

There are numerous postings on generator polarizing on Chatter, most are probably in the 6V electrical section further down the page. As for the "circuit breaker" I am guessing you mean the "cutout" and no you dont need to polarize it though you do need to make sure it is wired correctly or it doesnt do what it is supposed to do.

We have had many, many posts here on Chevy Chatter on how to polarize a Chevrolet generator.

First, make sure that the generator is wired correctly (the wire coming out of generator goes to the "GEN" terminal on the cut-out, and the wire on the "BATT" terminal of the cut-out goes to the back of the ammeter). Then with the ignition off, using a small jumper wire, hold one end of the jumper wire to either terminal on the cut-out. Touch the other end of the jumper wire to the opposite terminal on the cut-out so that it will make a spark. Once you get a spark the generator is polarized. You are polarizing the generator through the cut-out.

Thank you for the information. I looked and did a search and did not find that info anywhere. Maybe I didn't input the right search parameters. Regardless, the VCCA Chatter came through once again.
Thank you,

On the search, type in "polarizing" and previous posts on polarizing a generator will come up.
