New car annoucements were real big time back then. The cars were kept covered or hidden away til the big day. We had search lights out front and free beer and soda in the back.

The 1957 didn't turn me on when new....although I ended up buying one in Jan. of 1957 and have owned three since including my present one.

The Announcement Day back in 1932 (it was held in December of 1931) was a big gala affair with lots of advertising, street banners, dealer showroom window blackouts and etc. They really put on a major promotion back then when the new model cars were introduced.

Gene and JD

I too remember those days. The night before the big event found us teenager out looking for the car delivery trucks. Many time the cars were still on the trailer.

I too thought the 57 took a backseat to the 55 and 56. I sure was wrong about that. I bought a mew 1956 red and cream/white convertible. Way under powered. Had a 265 or something in it. No power-pack.

JD,

Ain't no way you were old enough to witness those 1932 being shown for the first time. If true, then your nickname must be Noah. Wow. :Agrin
