I have been told that the '40 is a one of a kind... just to be clear, I need the crossmember that holds up the transmission/engine.

I have the cross member that holds up the front of the engine not the one that holds the transmission. I have an extra frame that might have a good transmission cross member but then you are looking at a couple hours to remove it plus cleaning it out and worrying if it has deteriorated to the point that it is close to rust threw? I know my extra frame has rusty side support braces (no good). Here is a picture of frames. I have the 1940-48 frame shown in the middle (box girder).

I have a complete Master Deluxe Frame, Transmission and diff..

It looks like the box frame in the middle.

I really only need the part that goes under the frame on the right side.

I also just found out that the hole that the kingpin slides in on the front axle is warn... can this be repaired?

Check ebay for 1940 front suspension parts. This is listed right now 1940 Chevy right side spindle

To keep the posts well organized you need to start new post topics with new post headings. It is not a good idea to change from a frame problem to a suspension problem in a post. Some chat users might not read your post on your king pin problem because they think your post questions are only about frame issues.
