The articles you mention are a good source of info, the few I have looked at fill in the gaps the factory manuals seem to leave out.
While I haven read them fully they have not been discarded.

This is an excellent reminder. All the technical articles are available thru a link on the Filling Station home page.
One example, the article on Early U-Joint Assembly Tool 1928- was issued just as I was working on final assembly of my 1928 4-door sedan. At the end there was a warning, to NOT use grease in the u-joint housing, but rather gear oil. My housing had a grease fitting on it; on checking my extra engines (I have seven total) some had a plug at the top, and a couple had a grease fitting. I used new heavy gear oil and put in a plug.
