Anyone know if you can get a locked 1937 Chevrolet truck door handle apart without the key?

Joe,
If you remove the pin from the base of the handle, I think everything should fall out, whether it is locked or unlocked.
Have you tried this?
If there is a code stamped into the base of the handle, I can cut a key for you.

That's what I thought, too Mike. On this particular handle, someone drilled a hole through the handle base and the square shaft and used a 1/8" or so "peg", driving it through to hold it all together. I filed the "peg smooth on one side, drove it out of the handle shaft and square shaft, found the correct original pin, removed it and the shaft will not slip apart. I guess I had better apply some pressure to the square shaft and try to tap it loose. Haven't seen a code, but will check.

The key code is on the door handle shaft near the end. If memory serves, it's a five digit number stamped on the shaft.
I don't recall seeing any of these keyed handles for sale on "the bay" or elsewhere, in at least five years. Good luck!

It is a four diget number begining with a 8 or 9.

I got a PM from Joe saying he has solved his problem. I see the handles on eBay pretty often. The last one with a $300.00ish price tag.
I wonder when I see these things for sale at these prices, how much would you have in your restoration if you went around paying this much for everything you needed.
