I just purchases 4 new WW tires for my car - 4.75/5.00/ 19 . They were new Cooker @$788.00 with free shipping via eBay. When I called Cooker, they wanted $934.41.

How do they figure that ?

Anyhow, Now I need to get 4 new Tubes. Any recommendations?

My Chevy is over 70 years old and still running great. I hope I keep running cuz I just turned 81 !!

got my tires, tubes, and flaps from Coker....

If your flaps are worn out or deteriorating, replace them !!

Think they were under $20 a piece, Tubes under $15 a piece

Just to be sure, Cooker wanted $934.41 for 4 new whitewall tires (4.75/5.00/19). Summit Racing Equipment via eBay, for the same BF Goodrich tire they get from cooker, was only $788.00 with free shipping. Summit Racing's tubes were less than Cooker ($59.80 for 4 tubes).

I have had these tires on my car since 2000 and finally had to get new ones for my daily driver.

But I must admit, I don't understand the better pricing through eBay for the same tires and tubes.

i would say quantitative discount as a reseller... they buy X amount of tires at a discounted rate, and sell them for less profit. Coker sells them for Y amount and make larger profit. Figure as the manufacturer they sell 10x the tires as their resellers with most people buy direct from the factory. They sell tons of tires every day !!

buying second hand do you still get warranty and support from coker, or only via summit second hand >?<

I would not fret if you buy them from Summit via Coker, same tire, same quality product, just a cheaper price :)

It's the simpler business model that keeps the Ebay price low.

Compare 2 businesses selling tires: One has a storefront, tire shop, sales staff, accounting staff, buyers, installers and has to pay business insurance, employee benefits, Utilities, building repairs, pay for warranty claims, etc.

The other is an Ebay seller who buys 100 of a popular tire size to get a discount, stores them in his tin shed and sells them on Ebay using a computer he bought off Craigslist.

The Ebay guy is happy making $25 per tire as he just made $100 per hour of his time. The big shop needs to make $75 per tire to offset their more extensive business model.

We really should look at bulk buys through the club every year or two. I suspect that in any given Spring there are at least 20 cars getting shiny new shoes...
