Have a friend in BC looking for a transmission for his 1938 Pontiac. It is a really odd model only used in one series of Canadian Pontiacs that used the Chevy motor.

We are looking for any wreckers or guys with fields of cars in Canada. Anywhere in the country is fine. Any info would be really appreciated.

Thanks!!

Thanks Bruce!

Already chatted with the 37 kijiji guy and my friend has an ad running on Poncho.

I should look at Poncho more regularly myself to see what shows up myself as it could lead to a parts score. My car has little shared with a Pontiac except the Pontiac side emblem and the dash knobs since it's basically a custom Chevy coupe built by GM Canada. It's like hanging out at a Ferrari Forum when you own a Fiero with a Ferrari body kit installed lol so I've drifted away from the Pontiac forums..

This search for his trans did remind me I need to subscribe again to Old Autos in Ontario. Always loved that paper but may try the online version.

There's this yard East of Indian Head SK. Unfortunately I can't remember the name. It has mostly Buicks but there's quite a bit of other stuff too.

Here'a another one, this one South of Moose Jaw. Again, I forgot the man's name. The yellow arrow points to the Pioneer Village along Hwy 2 and the blue one points to the yard.

Thanks guys!

I've scoured these exact places over the years so enjoyed being reminded of them!

The search did lead me to a guy off Vancouver island with many 1939 Chevies. Said he had 150 at one time. Didn't help in this case but cool to find someone with that many of one year. Most are US models.

The good news is that a transmission has been found! Couple blocks away from my friend.

So now you all know there is indeed a 1938 Chevy Transmission that exists for an open driveshaft. Glad my car has the regular 38 Chevy drivetrain!
