Does anybody have a clue as to how in the world do you change the parking light bulbs in the front grille on a 1950 ? I read the shop manual...no help . According to shop manual, you raise the hood and pull out socket and bulb.....no go !! I tried pulling and even turning the socket. I quit and calmed down before I broke it. Mine has turn signals installed, how does that fit into the equation or does it ? HELP please !! Thanks.

Clement.

Glad you were successful. I have a 50 also but have never changed the bulbs anywhere on it. It just sits and sits.

I was going to advise you to take a jack handle and bust the lens. Then you could reach right in and get to the bulb easily. Of course you would then have been left with a new and different problem but probably not as difficult to solve. Agrin

At least I know now how you got to the bulb.

Those bulbs on the '50 are harder to get to than they look like they should be. The optimal way to do it is to get your 8 yr old grandkid to reach in there with their skinny little flexible arms and wrists. May cost you a cookie or two...

Those accustomed to the finest...find it in Chevrolet.

Both. I have owned the car for 2 years. At some point in the past someone added turn signals to it, which I am glad they did. My parking light bulbs are 2 filament . It uses the 1158 6 volt bulb that has the prongs that are equal distant...as opposed to the 1157 ( stop and turn signal ) with offset prongs. ( I am talking about the little prongs on the side of the bulb that " lock" it in place when it is pushed and turned into the respective housing )

I just had a hell of a time pulling out the bulb housing...hardly any room to work and I was tugging and being careful not to break anything. Calmer heads prevailed and I got it done.
