Would any body know if the headlight rings ( the part that holds the glass),comes in left and right hand parts.? My car has the same on both sides, the screw head is on the right side, looking at the light. Not a big deal but just wondering. Thanks Bill

The head light body came right and left so the rim attaching screw would always be at the bottom. The original rim was painted with a thin chrome band and it fit either side.

Hello Chevgene,
I think what he is asking is if the screw that tightens the ring comes in from the left side (as you are facing the headlight) the right side for the left headlight, making them a left or a right ring. On my '37 (as you face the headlights) the screw is tightened on the right side of the ring for both headlights.

Hello Tiny,

I see that I use too many words when so few will work. I hate when I do that.

I didn't think of that one....I guess my reply of left and right were the same would have been sufficent.

You'all have me confused. If there is a left and a right then they must be different. Accorcingly, if they are the same then they couldn't be different.

Not being a 37/38er and after reading the exchanges here, I don't know if the rings are the same or different (right and left) or which way the bolts go.

Talking about making something simple confusing, you 37/38ers are amazing and amusing, too. Mercy! Agrin

Thanks for all the info, I think my question was, is there a L&R head light ring, and no was the answer I think. Bill

Well Charlie it's kind of like this....being that our cars are older than yours there is the possibility that parts were exchanged, that fit the bill of the time, because of damage and or the possible lack of funds to secure the correct part at a time of extremely tight budgets....

So ... is there a left and a right trim ring to hold the glass in place ??

My guess is someone with a parts book of that era will let us know.

I have a 38 roadster. Both screw in from the right as do my spares. The parts list is part no.920798 for 37/38.Just one part. Also applies to some 39 commercials.Of course my parts book is Australian but that usually doesn't matter on base parts.Big things like doors differ.

TH,

So that's the problem here. Your parts book is upside down to us. Agrin
